Every oat soap is made for dry skin. Restore is made for compromised skin — the skin that reacts to most products, that flares in Finnish winter, that needs barrier nutrition not beauty ritual. Zero essential oils. The only scent comes from colloidal oat itself — warm, milky, neutral. Safe for atopic skin by formulation choice, not by accident. The oat in Restore is ground to true colloidal powder before batching. Not flakes — powder. The difference is the beta-glucan content. Beta-glucan is a polysaccharide that binds to skin receptor sites, activates anti-inflammatory pathways, and forms a film that reduces trans-epidermal water loss. It survives cold-process saponification and works on contact. Sea buckthorn at 2% stays below the staining threshold but delivers omega-7 palmitoleic acid — the fatty acid that mirrors human sebum and integrates into the skin's natural lipid system. Hemp seed oil at 3% brings gamma-linolenic acid. Vitamin E tocopherol is added as the primary V2 upgrade — the strongest evidence-backed fat-soluble vitamin for barrier repair in atopic skin. And the colloidal oat beta-glucan film that remains on skin after rinsing acts as a carrier layer that holds the vitamin E in contact longer than on any non-oat bar. 13% superfat — highest in the line. 8-week cold-process cure.

Colloidal oatmeal is recognised by the FDA as a skin protectant. Beta-glucan — concentrated in the oat bran layer — survives cold-process saponification at normal temperatures. It binds to skin receptor sites and activates anti-inflammatory pathways. The colloidal grind (powder, not flakes) maximises beta-glucan surface contact. Whole oat particles would scratch — the opposite of what compromised skin needs.
Omega-7 (palmitoleic acid). Mirrors human sebum. Added as superfat after trace.
Sea buckthorn pulp oil is the richest plant source of palmitoleic acid (omega-7) on earth — up to 40%. Omega-7 is a natural component of human sebum that integrates into the skin's existing lipid system rather than sitting on top of it. A 2024 RCT (Chan et al.) demonstrated measurable improvements in skin collagen density, elasticity, and redness after 12 weeks. At 2%, the beta-carotene content tints the bar warm apricot but stays below the towel-staining threshold.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Anti-inflammatory for atopic skin. Added as superfat after trace.
Hemp seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid with demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties in skin. GLA is specifically deficient in atopic dermatitis sufferers — external application supports the skin's own inflammatory regulation. Stays free as a superfat, not saponified.

Vitamin E has the strongest clinical evidence of any fat-soluble vitamin for barrier repair in atopic and compromised skin. The beta-glucan film formed by colloidal oat on the skin surface post-rinse acts as a carrier layer — holding the fat-soluble tocopherol in extended contact with the skin compared to a non-oat formulation. Added as 1% superfat, the highest vitamin E concentration in the SAMMAL line.
